In this lecture, given as the Rickman Godlee Lecture at University College London on October 24, 1968, Crick assessed the effect biology and particularly genetics were having on demography, medicine, economics, social policies, and cultural values. He concluded by calling for "a new ethical system based on modern science" rather than on religion.
