Watson wrote to Crick in preparation for the ceremony at which he, Crick, and Wilkins were awarded the 1960 Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research "for their contribution in revealing the structure of the DNA molecule." The Award was presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association in San Francisco, November 3, 1960. He also revealed that "I continue to live and sleep messenger RNA."
