Abstract:
In this report to the Rockefeller Institute in April 1944, Avery and McCarty detailed the research that culminated in the publication of their article with Colin MacLeod in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, which revealed their discovery of the "transforming principle" of pneumococcus. Avery and McCarty also provided a brief outline for future research in the laboratory.
