Commentary by Christian B. Anfinsen on 'Studies on the Structural Basis of Ribonuclease Activity'
Contributor(s):
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta Anfinsen, Christian B. (Christian Boehmer), 1916-1995
In this review of an article published decades earlier while he was at Carlsberg Laboratory, Anfinsen noted that the article was a fantastic example of how a conclusion can be reached that was wrong simply due to the "paucity of knowledge at that particular time." Anfinsen extended his overall thesis to address recent concerns over scientific "fraud," and called for some leeway for "premature incorrect conclusions." The original article, "Studies on the Structural Basis of Ribonuclease Activity," appeared in "Biochimica et Biophysica Acta" 17 (1955): 141-142, by Christian B. Anfinsen, W. F. Harrington, Aase Hvidt, Kaj Linderstrom-Lang, Martin Ottesen, and John Schellman.
