Abstract:
This article, which includes handwritten notes by Anfinsen, provided an overview of the use of affinity chromatography in the study of protein folding and its importance for vaccine production. Anfinsen briefly reviewed the use of affinity chromatography as a tool in the study of the interaction between peptides and antibodies, noting that at times the technique revealed that fragments of a protein molecule bind with monospecific antibodies, thus indicating that those fragments, which otherwise appeared to lack structure, occupied an ordered structure for at least a portion of their existence.
