Robert S. Stone, director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Thomas C.Chalmers, associate director of NIH, Vernon Knight, Sheldon Wolff, Robert W. Berliner, deputy director (for science) of NIH, and John R. Seal are in the Masur auditorium. There are "reserved" covers on some of the chair backs. One man is holding what appears to be a "Twentieth Anniversary" program. Dr. Eugene Braunwald has a pipe in his mouth. Dr. Fredrickson, director of intramural research, is standing looking down. There is an edge of a free-standing black board to the side of the seated people.
