Abstract:
Taupe poster with burgundy and black lettering announcing exhibit, Feb. - Mar. 1981. Also lists dates. Title at top of poster. Dominant visual image is reproduction of Eakins' painting, bordered in burgundy and white. Painting depicts professor and four men performing an operation in the presence of two others. Professor stands erect, one hand bloodied and holding a scalpel. To the right of the professor, two men in foreground appear to act as surgical assistants, holding a retractor and another instrument. One man probes an opening in what looks like the patient's leg, and another appears to administer anesthesia. To the left of the professor, one man cowers and covers his eyes while another calmly takes notes at a lectern above and behind. Remaining text below painting.
