Two women technicians monitor equipment to which a man, in a controlled environment to the left, is connected via numerous electrodes attached to his body. Verso: WHO/16617. EURO. Occupational Health. Accidents and disease take a heavy toll among workers. Each year mroe than 100,000 fatal occupational accidents occur in the world. In industrially developed countries, one worker in 10 is reported to have an accident at worke each year. There are still other dangers: the soul-destroying monotony and stesses of modern production methods with their assembly lines and shift work.
