A mother holding her child who was suffering from pneumonia. Verso: WHO/5963. Ethiopia-Health survey. The whimper of departing life. For a whole day and night the mother has walked through the mountians carrying her two years-old boy to see a WHO doctor, the first within living memory to visit this district of Ethiopia. All the doctor's efforts to treat the child's double pneumonia were fo no avail. An hour after this picture was taken it was all over.
