Interior view of laboratory classroom: Dr. Zafari, from Iran, is lecturing to a group of microbiologists in Ibadan, Nigeria. Verso: WHO/14981. AFRO - Cholera. When cholera invaded Africa south of the Sahara in 1970 for the first time in a century, "flying faculties" of three members each were speedily organized by WHO. One English-speaking and one French, the teams ran courses for health workers on diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures to stop cholera from spreading. Here Dr. Yadollah Zafari from Iran is lecturing to microbiologists in Ibadan, Nigeria, on variants of the cholera vibrio.
