School children suspected of streptococcal infections are being examined by a physician. Verso: Your heart is your health. World Health Day. 7 April 1972. According to Dr. Paul Dudley White, the noted cardiologists, the prevention of heart disease " has attracted less attention than its diagnosis and treatment. It obviously deserves the first priority but it is less dramatic than surgical procedures .. and the doctors are over worked simply taking care of sick people." Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death in many of the industrial economies, the incidence of these diseases increases sharply. While the World Health Orgainzation is concerned with the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, the greater concern is with their prevention, at the indivdual and community levels. School children suspected of streptococcal infections are examined. The doctor takes throat swabs for labratory examinations.
