Abstract:
Interior view: a patient sitting on a bed has a portable pump strapped to his chest to permit the controlled administration of medication intravenously. A nurse is helping him to dress. Verso: WHO/14556. Euro. Cancer. France. The sack contains a pump which allows medicine to be injected very slowly into the vein. A large injection in one go causes the organism to eliminate the substances rapidly, so the effect is lost. Until now pumps were so cumbersome that the patient had to stay in bed. The new miniature pump allows him to get up and move around.
