Seven scenes depict life at the Shelter include Supt. Ryan receiving lodgers, a man repairing clothes, men eating mush for breakfast, men in line in the wash room waiting for water, a general sleeping room where lodgers are preparing to retire, men working in the wood yard, and men waking up in the morning in the basement.
