| Description: | This videotape profiles the Naval Medical Research Institute. The Institute develops modalities that meet the needs of the U.S. Navy in war and peace. In addition, the Institute studies the effect of heat and cold on the body, decompression sickness, and oxygen toxicity. The Institute focuses on vaccine development for infectious diseases such as malaria and typhus. The tape also shows examples of the Institute's international labs. For example, the lab in Lima, Peru studies infectious diseases among the Amazon natives. There is extensive laboratory, equipment, and technician footage. |
